Obsah:
V prvej sérii sa predstavuje šesť hlavných postáv a zistí sa, že Ross bol zamilovaný do Rachel už od strednej školy. Niekoľko epizód sa točí okolo jeho pokusov povedať jej, ako sa cíti. Napokon to praskne v záverečnej epizóde. Epizódny charakter série vidieť aj v tom, že ostatné postavy majú niekoľko rande, z ktorých väčšina nedopadne dobre. Predstavuje sa aj vedľajšia postava, Janice, Chandlerova priateľka, s ktorou sa často rozchádza, ale často sa k nemu vracia.
